Designed to Thrive: Priester Aviation
Imagine walking into the office and stepping into a space that blends history, comfort, and fun—Priester Aviation’s “Hangar One” reimagines an unfinished storage area as a one-of-a-kind breakroom designed for employees to gather, work, relax, and connect.
This transformation turned an underutilized area into a warm, inviting breakroom where employees can unwind, collaborate, and enjoy the company’s rich aviation history. Through thoughtful planning, vintage-inspired design, and creative functionality, Rieke Interiors created a unique employee experience that reflects both the company’s culture and its history.
A dedicated lounge area in the breakroom with a statement curved sofa, custom millwork credenza, and a history wall celebrating Priester Aviation’s story.
The Challenge
Breakroom kitchen featuring a custom-designed waterfall quartz counter with a wood face, paired with high-top stools and cohesive finishes on the storage and backsplash that stay true to Priester Aviation’s brand identity.
Priester Aviation approached Rieke Interiors with a space full of potential—but in need of a complete transformation.
Unfinished Storage Space: The area featured concrete floors, walls, and ceilings, requiring a full redesign from the ground up.
Desire for a Vintage, Branded Environment: The client wanted a space that honored the history of their aviation company while providing a warm, engaging atmosphere.
Multifunctional Needs: The space had to serve multiple purposes: collaboration, casual meetings, focused work, relaxation, and even rest for pilots.
The goal was clear: create a space employees would love to spend time in, without losing sight of functionality or brand identity.
Rieke’s Solution
Rieke Interiors approached the project with a holistic design strategy that blended structure, function, and aesthetics:
Structural & Acoustic Enhancements: Drywall, mixed flooring materials, and acoustic baffles were added to create comfort, reduce noise, and define functional zones within the space.
Flexible Work & Leisure Areas: Lounge seating, TV-centered areas, and a ping pong table with a writable surface for meetings provide opportunities for both work and play. Multiple zones allow employees to eat, work, or relax comfortably.
Kitchen & Snack Amenities: A full kitchen with an island and snack station supports casual gatherings, meals, and social interaction.
Brand-Aligned, Vintage Aesthetic: Colors inspired by Priester Aviation’s logo—purples, navy, and golds—were paired with black and brass accents throughout furniture and lighting to create a warm, vintage aviation vibe.
Thoughtful Project Execution: Every step of the transformation, from raw storage to finished environment, was carefully guided to ensure the final space was cohesive, functional, and inspiring.
The result is a space that effortlessly balances the company’s history with modern workplace needs, encouraging employees to gather, collaborate, and recharge.
From raw storage to the distinctive “Hangar One,” this transformation shows how intentional design can elevate employee experiences, foster collaboration, and celebrate a company’s heritage.
